Fronthaul is fibre-constrained and thermally hostile. BiDi optics halve fibre consumption; industrial temperature ratings decide whether the link survives a rooftop cabinet.

BiDi single-fibre modules cut fibre count by 50% on each span
Industrial variants rated −40 to 85 °C for outdoor cabinets
10 km and 20 km BiDi covers the majority of fronthaul spans
Confirm host compatibility — many RAN vendors require coded optics
